Stay close when the clock is tight
Antigua is famous for its coastline, but cruise passengers only need the beaches that fit the hours after docking at St John's. Dickenson Bay sits roughly 10–15 minutes north-west — a practical taxi hop when swimming is the priority. West-coast coves around Hawksbill / Five Islands are also in the short-transfer orbit for many passengers.
Quieter south-coast beaches can look idyllic in photographs and still be a poor fit if the transfer eats your swimming time. Organised beach-style days sometimes include loungers and a timed return; independent taxis put the clockkeeping on you.
